Making a Difference Challenge
New year, new decade, new you right? This month’s challenge takes you a little bit out of your usual schedule and into the realm of helping others who desperately need it or to just make a small positive impact on the world. This challenge is broken down into weekly chunks so you can work on each portion daily, every other day, or at the end of each week!
Week 1 (1st - 8th):
Make a kindness token. Fold 5-10 pieces of A4 paper/card into quarters or smaller and cut them out into their own individual ‘card shapes’. On them anonymously design a positive quote, message, compliment or something to inspire positive change and leave them scattered around as you go about your week (e.g. inside a library book, stuck on the fridge at work, on a shelf at a supermarket, in the pocket of an item in clothing in a shop, left on the table of a coffee shop or restaurant, posted in someone’s door, left on the seat of a train or bus).
Week 2 (9th – 16th):
Send a card/e-card/some small tangible gesture to a children’s hospital or nursing home. If you are nervous about signing it from you, say it was from the family at theroompsy.com and put our contact details at the bottom (theroompsy@outlook.com, @theroompsy across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
Week 3 (17th – 24th):
Take a bin/trash bag on a hike, walk/trip to the beach, woods, or a park etc. and pick up all the trash you see littered and recycle what you can! Ask friends and family to join you or, ask your school/college/university/work whether you can organise a class/group outing to undertake this selfless task. Don’t forget to wear gloves and not to touch anything that looks like a needle or a pill.
Week 4 (25th 31st):
Collect and donate supplies to a local animal shelter or to a humane society.
